New Chicago Improv Documentary

#1
Hello everyone,

I'm currently working to produce an improv documentary featuring several of the best improvisers at iO in Chicago. This film will follow a collegiate group of improvisers to the College Improv Festival and feature interviews from top-tier improvisers along the way. So, far I've gotten interviews from Bill Arnet, Danny Mora, Jason Chin, Andy St. Clair, Alex Fendrich, Jason Shotts and Colleen Doyle.

I'm trying to line up a few more interviews (with the help of Bill and Jason) when I visit Chicago in three weeks.

So, this message's purpose is two-fold:
1) Does anyone have any inside tracks to people who would be great for me to feature in the film? I've got a lot of perspectives from iO already, and I'd love to get some Second City stars in it as well.
2) If you're interested in helping out, staying updated or obtaining a copy, you can visit the film's website (www.whethertheweather.com). The more buzz that this project has, the easier it will be to accomplish it.

This will be the first time I visit Chicago and I'm excited/anxious for the experience.

Hit me up if you are interested or have any tips!
RK

A short list of people you should try to speak to: Mick Napier, Susan Messing, Noah Gregoropoulos, TJ Jagodowski and Dave Pasquesi.

Great!

Awesome! I'll be sure to seek them out before I head up there.

I'm basically using a crowd-sourced method of collaboration for this project, so if anyone knows any specific issues I should ask certain people, or if you have a question you'd like to hear answered from several people, feel free to post them.

As always, any other input is appreciated.

I'd be happy to suggest some questions, but what is your angle for the documentary?

If you want some perspective on Second City I would put Mick at the top of your list. He has been in and out of there for the last 25 years. If you are interested in a big overview of what is happening at Second City right now, talk to Matt Hovde.

I think you will find that you won't need much of an inside track. People are very approachable in Chicago. IM me if you need a suggestion of how to get ahold of someone in particular.

My angle (so far) is to highlight the difficulties a player can have with with his or her teammates, in addition to the difficulty of keeping the improv great.

The film will bounce back & forth between the interviews and the CIT competition.

Regarding people in Chicago, Mick Napier has been suggested to me several times. If anyone knows the best way to contact him, I'd gladly appreciate it. I'm trying my best to contact all potential interviews, even if there's only 1% chance they'll say yes.

I'd like to speak to Matt Hovde as well. I'm currently working with Jonathan Pitts to interview a few of the CIT judges, some of which are Second City also. Perhaps they may be a quality foot-in-the-door for him?
