Growing up, I read Batman, Superman, and JLA. These were the comics my dad read, and he influenced my early geekdom. As I grew up, I embraced Xmen, Spiderman, and various other Marvel books, as well as Image and Dark Horse titles. But DC will alway hold a special place in my heart.
That's why I'm loving Cartoon Network/WB. From the moment WB took ahold of the Batman Animated Series, to The Adventures of Superman, to Batman Beyond, Static Shock, Teen Titans... and now a new series. Just warms my heart. And over on cable, Cartoon Network gives me Justice League (now Justice League Unlimited).
Of course, I'm never happy. Teen Titans is in it's own uninverse: meaning no crossovers. Crossovers are awesome! Green Lantern showing up in Dakota to help out Static, Static jumping into the future to help out the future Batman.... awesome. I would love to see Flash show up at Titans Tower just to show the little guys what's what. And now Robin can't be in JLU? Boo.
Speaking of Justice League Unlimited, I gotta say I'm a bit disappointed. Sure, it's only 4 episodes in (I haven't actually seen the fourth episode, I have a backlog of tv to watch), but the lack of new and old superheros bugs me. This is supposed to be UNLIMITED, when you never knew who was going to show up!
In the animated Justice League, you have a great rotation of Hawkgirl, Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Wonderwoman, the Martian Manhunter, and the Flash (though I still feel Flash deserves more plot points!). I originally hoped Unlimited would be a spin off, not the third season of JL. The first epsiode features Green Arrow, Captian Atom, and Supergirl... yah!!! But the second and third feature no new characters (yes, Demon shows up in the third episode, but he's not really in the league). We get it, Batman and Wonder Woman have chemisty, Hawkgirl and Green Lantern are probably doing it. Give me more superheros doing what they do best: saving the world.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to start the first side quest on Pokemon Colosseum. More on that later.
