I came home after 2 days away - to a broken DVR!!! all my shows i had recorded - GONE! goodbye desperate housewives i never saw! goodbye apprentice! goodbye office special! goodbye Conan with hillarious backstage debate bit! and it won't record anything! hard drive failure!

How dependent i have become on technology!!!

I just wanted to share that with all of you.

i am on my fifth Time Warner DVR box. They're crap.
So, I just got cable and wasn't hip to this DVR product until yesterday. From what you've just stated - it probably wouldn't be worth the expense for me to get a self install kit from Time Warner.

Would you agree with this statement?

I need to know because now that I know it's out there, I want it so.

yeah go trade your box in - it is very easy. I love my DVR - this is he first time i have ever cursed it. I was freaking out last night because i had to tape SNL - seriously - i am spoiled.

OK, I'm a wee ninny, but is it very difficult to self-install it? You all are saying trade it in, but isn't that at like 225th street?

Because I know that this thread was started as spam to get me interested in DVR technology.

the DVR is just another Box - you just unplug your old, take it in, get the DVR, then when you come home you plug in the DVR - very simple. or you can pay 25 bucks for time warner to bring it to you.

also there is a 23rd street time warner location

make sure you call first - they may have to give you a confirmation number so you can secure a box before you go - they were in high demand back when i got mine.

We had a box fail once and all we had to do was unplug it for a little while and then plug it back in and let it reboot. I think it's worth the extra 9 or 10 bucks each month. Makes all the difference in the world since I'm never home when my shows are on.

Try and explain THIS DVR nugget, folks.

I bought wireless headphones for my girlfriends place, so when she is studying, and I'm watching TV, she isn't bothered by the background noise... Well, The headphones are electric, meaning the recievers power supply plugs into the wall. I can watch regular tv, live recorded TV, pause, stop, ff, etc... I can even watch on demand, with the headphones on.

However, when I try to watch something thats saved and recorded on the DVR, through the headphones, after three mintues or so, the headphones reciever outlet powers OFF.

Now, there is NO ON OFF SWITCH on the reciever. Its simply plugged in to the wall, and its on.

Once I turn back to live tv, the headphones mysteriously turn on again....

explain that shit.

The HD DVR is now available! $25 installation fee (they don't let you self-install), no monthly charge!

wheeeeee!
From Time Warner? Do I have to have a HD TV as well? Could you explain to me, the ignorant, please?

Thank you!

you would need an hdtv, but this box can decode the hd signal as well as record as a dvr, which up until now has been an either/or decision. it now makes getting an hdtv not so stupid a decision.

football (on cbs and monday night)! sopranos (in 2006)!
