I was just curious as to what the top url refferers are to the irc and other wierd facts like that. Like when you go into webstat and it says the urls where people come from.

Google is by far the top referrer. Most get here from some combination of true porn clerk stories still. Although we've seen a surge of people looking for "paris hilton sex tape". Yay, Jed! Otherwise, the biggest legit referrer at the moment is the dirty south improv festival message board. However, I can't find the actual place where it is linked.

It's not webstat, but the web server itself. Most can be configured to maintain a log of where every visitor to the site came from, among other things. Webstat just reads those logs and makes a report that is a little easier to read. Then Mullaney sends this to your boss, showing him that you were first at HugeHooters.com, THEN came here looking for the Paris Hilton Sex Tape!

It carries over the URL that the user was on when he clicked a link. Google has a long trail with keywords for their searches after question marks, which is how the server also tracks which keywords were searched for when people came over.
