Perhaps this has already been discussed on the IRC but in Malcolm Gladwell's new book BLINK there is quite a bit devoted to the art of improv and describes one of Mother's scenes as well as gives examples from Del Close.

Gladwell is friendly with one of the members of Mother.

I think it's a great way for him to illustrate BLINK, since the book is about thin-slicing and intuition (although he'd not use the word intuition) and god knows Improv deals with trusting your instincts and gaining a large amount of information from a teeny nugget of data.

For the lazy among you, the passage in question is from pages 111 to 117 in the hardcover edition on sale at booksellers. It's worth reading, all.

Fuck, are you kidding me?? This is a book I felt would be helpful for mine. Now it sounds as if it'd REALLY be helpful for mine!

I saw the guy on the TODAY show.
