[Madison] Madison Wisconsin??

Marne,

I'm not from Madison but I lived there for two years while going to Grad School at University of Wisconsin. I didn't love Grad School but I loved Madison. It never surprises me when it shows up on the "Best Places in America to Live" lists.

I had taken my first improv class at ImprovOlympic in Chicago before heading up there but it was in Madison that I did my first actual improv onstage. It was at The Ark Theater which is now, unfortunately, a laundromat. I had no idea it was there when I decided to go to school in Madison, but I'm sure glad it was. I know that some other incarnations of The Ark have popped up over the years but I don't think they have their own building these days. I'll always be grateful to Dennis and Elaine Kern for starting The Ark and keeping it going so long. My group's old director Jodi Cohen still lives there and performs occasionally if you want to look her up. She's a great person.

I moved back to Chicago after finishing school but I used to go back up to Madison whenever I got a chance. I wish I could get there more often.

Have a slice of Rocky Rococo's Pizza for me. Extra sauce.

Good luck!

Good one, Shannon. And I'm not just saying that because of all the Wordplay Appreciation Tea Parties back at Miss Pratt's Academy. She made Miss Jean Brodie look like a biker chick.
