LA -

Previously I threw out the idea of putting up a 1 night mini improv festival.

Something at a non-improv theatre (the ART, Stella Adler, Complex, etc.) and having various improv teams play from approx 8pm-2am; a mini-marathon if you will.

Everyone i talked to seemed to like this idea. One of the major reasons I want to do this is to enhance the interest/popularity of live improv theatre in LA. With no interest/goals of having agents present or anything like that (although that is of course allowed), but to simply enjoy and cherish the art of improvisation. We've had SC and IOWest for a while, but with the recent addition to UCB into the community and the move of SC into the hollywood improv mecca the spark has been lit and its time to take advantage. By no means do we have the audiences of NY and Chicago, but this is the way to start that.

Bottom line: I am putting up this one night mini-festival. It wont be for quite some time but it is happening.

This is my question: Are you in?

Tell me: who you are, your team name, where you play, all basic info, etc.

Either post it here, or send me a personal email telling me your status.

thanks. i hope this works out. LA could use the boost.

I'm in.....

....and yes, Ronin can speak for me.

BOC

PS: Drew, I remind you my house is right down the street from the Complex. So if you needed a staging area/post-party/extra bathrooms place for free, I'm available.

Mack, Jesse, you remember where I live, yes?

I remember being in your house... I also remember being very tired and drunk and falling asleep on your floor for several hours... or was it 20 minutes?

This sounds really cool. I'm with Street-Prov, out of Tucson, AZ. We could definitely drive out there for a good show. I can't speak for the rest of the team, but I'll bring it to their attention.

Will you be needing any kind of application materials / dues?

LA Mini Fest UPDATE:

Things are going great.

So many teams have already signed up. And this doesn't include any favors I've pulled in from the many teams at IO and UCB i personally know that will perform. So far, the support for this is amazing.

I have been in contact with a few theatres, pitching them the idea of hosting this festival, and dates, rental fees, and all sorts of details are being hashed out. Expect this festival date to be announced in the next few weeks.

And dont worry, im trying to get booze allowed. That is a biggy.

Again, send me a personal email if you want to sign up. Thanks.
