Hi, fellow NYC Improvisers!
I am planning a bit show for the DCM with the philosophy that improv comedy just isn't improvised enough- The performers on a given team know the other team members and their play styles, they practice and develop a common skill set together, and they even agree on a form to help guide the order of their scenes! For this bit show, I want to recruit a team of 8 random strangers to perform a set that they have never rehearsed before, and thus have no pre-conceived notions of what they will be doing before showtime. Ideally, if the show is selected, the first time everyone meets each other will be call time before the show. This is The Spontaneo.
If this is something you're interested in, please send an email to thespontaneo@gmail.com WITH ONLY YOUR NAME AND NOTHING ABOUT YOUR TRAINING OR WHATEVER, and this weekend I will semi-randomly select 7 other people (I'll do a teensy bit of research to make sure that no one is already on a team together) and submit their names with this show info for consideration to be in the DCM. I'll then keep in touch with each member of that group regarding any news I hear back. This is open to everyone of all levels of experience and from any theater; the more diverse the selection pool is, the more truly improvised it will be!
Best of luck with your other DCM submissions, and keep improv spontaneous!
