Hey all, Adam Nowak here. Many know me as Dr. Avery Oddbody of The Strange Box of Dr. Oddbody. We're putting on our show every Saturday night at 11 over at the PIT, and it's going fabulously. This past weekend we created some very memorable one-act horror plays that had people losing their lunch and/or their soul.
The show is basically three one-act improvised horror plays based on titles written by the audience before hand. I play the sinister Dr. Oddbody, a sort of extremely well-fed Crypt Keeper, if you will. Along with my sidekick, Tina, Princess of Pain (Michele Medlin, or "mo nose"), we create this solid horrific atmosphere, and with a super cast of hilarious and smart improvisers, we put up a great show. It should be noted that the Supreme Improv Keyboardist Josh Sitron is there as Mortechai Mortechai, tinkling the ivories.
I'm going to open up the 10/23 show up to anyone who'd like to come in and do a horror-based "bit" in between our one-acts. I've got one possible act set up already, and depending on what they are I'd like to get two more for a total of three interstitial acts.
Here's the criteria...
1.) It's gotta be kinda short - 4 to 6 minutes is perfect
2.) I'd like anything that is comedy, so long as it's not improv - a live sketch, a short film, puppets, a monologue, a funny song on a geetar, anything!
3.) It's got to go with our theme, which is HORROR. This is open to interpretation, but I'd like it to stick closely to this genre, and not open it up to scifi or any other stuff. And it doesn't have to have anything to do with Halloween.
4.) Nothing messy or illegal
What will you get out of it? Well, I'll add you to the program and to the weekly e-mails, and put something on the website. I want to make this show the big one, as I think the show right before Halloween will be sold out.
Last year, MEAT did their Evil British Children, and it killed. They may come back, but if not, it's your opportunity to shine!!! So dust off that student film or dance piece set to "Tubular Bells" or your zombie cabaret duo and let me know!

Thanks - now let's put on a show!
