My sketch group, Pennybear, is coming to the New York Fringe Festival this August. We don't have the specific dates since those will be released later, but we wanted to figure out just how much cash we're going to have to shell out for lodging in New York while we're in town. Let's say we arrive 8/16 and then leave 8/25.
What are some good spots to stake out for lodging? Hotels? Inns? Hostels? Which ones in particular would you suggest?
What about people offering their places for people to crash? What message boards have these things listed? I think we've already checked out craigslist for deals but so far everything looks pretty expensive.
Has anyone done the Fringe Festival before in previous years and heard about what out-of-town groups usually spend on lodging? Perhaps you were part of an out-of-town group before you moved to NYC.
Any advice on this issue would be really appreciated.
