local ISPs

Hey, does anyone have any recommendations for ISPs here? I'm on an Earthlink dialup right now, but I need broadband once we move into our house. Any suggestions?

I use Time Warner Roadrunner. $35 a month for thr first 6 months, $45 after. Not bad, although I ran into a problem with service once or twice when they had installed the wrong filter. They pro-rated the time we were without service though, so that was kinda cool.

No, I went the cell phone route and didn't get a land line at all. Verizon's got much of NC covered and I didn't want to be paying for a land line when I wasn't going to be home enough to use it. Not sure who to go through for phones.

I use RoadRunner, but not the phone service. My phone bill is less than their flat rate.

My parents are a few miles away and do use their phone service. Haven't had any problems with it.

I use RoadRunner, but that requires having Time Warner for cable. Whoever provides cable to your neck of the woods should also have a cable modem option, which is likely to be a thousand times better than whatever DSL would be available.

As for local phone, I use Vonage. $24.95 a month gets me unlimited calling in my area code plus 500 long distance minutes (which I never come close to using) and all the calling features under the sun. I haven't had a single problem with it, it hooks right up to my cable modem and I never have to think about it, and it's so much like a regular phone that I don't even realize I'm not dealing with the phone company.

(If Vonage looks good to you, PM me and I can refer you and get you a free month's service.)

My wife signed up with Time Warner for internet and cable. They are checking to see if phone service is available on post. If they don't, I'll go with Vonage; my coworkers have warned me about Sprint.
