Do it up!

I am not able to give blood at the moment because it is now as thin as jack daniels. Even though I have a cool uncommon blood type that reflects my hip cynical outlook on life (B-). And it's not because I'm an alcoholic or anything!

So step up folks! Give a pint, it makes it easier to get drunk that night!

Did I mention I'm not an alcoholic?!

Awesome Alison! You know you have my help....whatever you need, let me know.

My blood is Grade A+ and flows like Iraqi oil, defended by US troops, for use in SUVs and people in need of blood.

What date is the drive?

bloody people

the date of the drive will most likely be august 31st. during the republican convention. yee-ha!
tentatively called "Blood for Oil."
i'm trying to put together goody bags for the first 50-70 or so donors...So far, I have secured "Blood for Oil" bumper stickers and 70 copies of U2's classic album "Under a Blood Red Sky" (for real!)
If anyone works for a corporation that can donate any more goodies to donors, please let me know!
most importantly, if you can donate actual blood (or help out with the drive), please contact me asap!!
alcoholics welcome, as long as you can skip one night of drinking.
thanks!

Alison, do you need any overachieving blood? If so, my A+ supply is ready willing and able.

How long do you have to wait in between donations? The last time I gave was in January or February, so I'm probably clear to give again, right? I forget how long you have to wait.

You only have to wait like a month. My dad used to give in intervals of "whenever he was allowed to" but I forget how often that is. You are mos def in the clear.

Edit: Dammit - noone will believe me but I was like - I think it's 56 days but I'm making that up in my head. I wasn't I just have no confidence in me

How often can one give blood?
Regulations in the United States allow people to donate whole blood once every 56 days. The waiting period between donations can be different for other blood components. For example, donating only platelets in a process called apheresis requires only a 3 day wait before a person can give again. Donating two units of red blood cells through a similar process doubles the waiting period to 112 days.

i'm pretty sure that is all accurate. thanks, world wide internet!
i also should mention that the NY blood center will be providing cookies, juice, raisins, and junk food when you donate. so, if you're broke, you could make a free lunch out of this.

i would just like to say that when you ask your friends to donate blood, you suddenly find yourself learning way too much about them. Childhood illnesses, baldness drugs, fear of abandonment. I don't need to know that much, people. But thanks for the stories.....by the way, if you can't donate (or if you can), let me know if you want to help out instead. Pat, are you around to lend a hand on the 31st for an hour or so? Erin, let me know if you want me to sign you up for an appointment time to donate. You can both email me directly at Alison.Becker@umusic.com
thanks!

Hi, my name is Alison, too, and people are asking me about the blood drive because they think I am involved. So I figured the best way to solve this problem is to just get involved rather than try and clear up the confusion. PM me so I can do stuff.

Thanks,
ALI

I just received 70 CDs, donated by universal music. they will be going out to 70 donors. sign up today! save a life!
I think it's great that there's such a huge community of comedians here....and i think it'd be even more great if we could really get a lot of people to donate blood...to show the world that we comedians are NOT fuck ups. we are FUNNY. and we are NICE. and we have BLOOD. and we like free CDS.
if you'd like to donate blood, email me at Alison.Becker@umusic.com
thanks!

Awesome idea.

I used to give blood all the time. Sadly, I can no longer give blood, because I lived in England for more than a couple months.

Damn you, mad cow disease!
