I'll be teaching this four week class on "La Ronde" beginning in March! La Ronde is a very cool form following a circle of characters and the ways their lives connect.
In addition, we'll be doing the show "In the Round" with the performers in the middle and the audience around the outside. If you've never done improv in the round, it's an awesome experience. And what better way to play with a "circular" form than by doing it in a circle.
We'll work on things like exploring grounded characters, patience, connectivity and intimacy, environment/staging, second beats/heightening, all adding up to a way to make really powerfully funny scenes that last.

It all comes back. The La Ronde is a longform centered around a circle of characters and the ways their world’s connect. Students will work on fostering connectivity between players and establishing strong grounded characters to create some powerfully funny scenes. To complement this circular form, students will be learning and performing, “in the round," with the performers in the center, and the audience arranged around them. Everyone's connected. It all comes back.
4 weeks of class followed by one graduation performance. Prerequisite: Level Two or equivalent experience.
