Improv Resource Center - Forums

Hi everybody, I'm Jordan Hirsch and I want to coach your musical improv team or practice group!

I've been performing, teaching, and coaching improv for around 7 years now, and musical improv teams are my favorite things ever. A bit more about me:

I learned the fine art of improv at Washington Improv Theater in Washington DC in 2004. After graduating from their training program, I went on to become a founding member of the long-form troupe JINX, who has played at festivals all over, including Del Close and the Chicago Improv Festival.

Shortly after that, I joined the original cast of DC's first and best musical improv troupe, iMusical:The Improvised Musical. In 2009, I teamed up with my iMusical castmate Karen Lange to create Vox Pop, a 2-person all-sung musical improv show which has performed multiple times at the New York Musical Improv Festival and the Del Close Marathon, and is headlining this year at the Philadelphia Improv Festival.

Last year I joined the cast of the Magnet Musical Megawatt team Rosencrantz, and this year I was cast on the new Magnet super-group Legend. I'm also a member of the 2-person non-musical improv group Wando which performs in and around New York City.

I taught and coached improv in Washington DC for several years, and am looking to get back into it up here in my new home of New York. I have a passion for musical improv, and I love to coach it. I will always come prepared with exercises tailored towards your group. I believe a lot in side-coaching as well, since I think it's more helpful to learn something in the moment than try and remember a scene you were in 20 minutes later. I am happy to coach groups of all experience levels.

I look forward to working with you!
