Jazz in NYC

#1
Does anyone know a good place to go see/hear live Jazz in NYC? I work with a Korean guy who's living in NYC without his family in a rented corporate apartment working an insanely terrible job. Understandably, he is miserable. He loves jazz and I was thinking it might cheer him up if I could find a good club to take him to for a night of fun.

Thanks guys!

No joke, no bullshit.

Take this poor bastard to see George Garzone and Bob Gulloti at Cornelia St. Cafe tonight. These guys have been playing together for about 30 years in Boston. They are legends up there and deservedly so.

GO!!!

Take him to see Steve Bernstein's Millenial Territory Orchestra at Jazz Standard (below Blue Smoke - 116 E. 27th street bet. Park and Lex).

Oh yeah, they perform there Monday nights.

The concert hall that I work at does an awesome series of Jazz duo piano concerts featuing pairings of artists that normally would not be playing together. They're pretty reasonably priced too!

The series is called No Minimum the place is called Merkin Hall. You can check it out here:
