Torn and Ruled--The written short story meets long form improv comedy.

Sundays in June 8th-22nd :: 7:00PM :: Chicago City Limits Theater

Taking from the aesthetics of the written story, each show features a guest writer. The show starts as the author begins to write, inspired by a suggestion from the audience. As the words are typed they are projected onto the stage. The action bleeds between written word and improvised scenes.

Don't Forget This Weeks Guest Writer: Port Mason!

Porter has drawn cartoons since he was very small. He still draws them. He published a book, "Prince Quirky." He is moving to Virginia in a month to spend all his time cartooning.
Porter has been performing improvisational comedy for about six years now. To date, no one has blatantly asked him to stop. He now also directs improv groups. He performs regularly at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater with his Harold team, My Kickass Van . He also performs with T.J. Monkey's.
T.J. Monkey's has a website, http://www.tjmonkeys.com, on which they publish a daily "Thought of the Day" humor essay. Porter has written over 180 of these essays. The site has been running for almost three years and is very popular with 15-year-old girls.

Last night Porter wrote for us and it was like witnessing a blind Milton reciting PARADISE LOST to his homely daughter.

Or something like that.

It was beautiful.
