Introduce yourself here:

Hi,

Here's a short bio:

Jerry Schaefer is a veteran of The Second City where he continues to teach. His comedy troupe The Chumps produced several improvised one-act plays, pop culture parodies, and a CBC Radio comedy series called The Chumps Without a Net.

Jerry has appeared in many films and his television credits include The Kids In The Hall and the Red Green Show where he played Ed Frid, an animal control expert who was deathly afraid of all living things.

In addition to being the head writer for two CBC Radio comedy series Jerry has written for the Red Green Show, Colin Mochrie, Joe Flaherty, and Andrea Martin.

Last year Jerry wrote and performed a one-man show called Mobile Home & Garden. Currently he is producing the Flash Fiction Comedy Jam.

Jerry also enjoys talking about himself in the third person.

Hi,

My name's Ian. I'm a french improviser doing improv in Paris. I like to think that the troupe I perform with is influenced by Keith Johnstone, as most of the improv we can see in France is mostly the "Match d'improvisation", the show created by the two Canadians Gravel and Leduc. Of course, they have been naturally a big influence on our work.

So if you have any questions about doing improv in France, don't hesitate to ask me. You can also check my blog, which you'll find in my signature. There are some articles in English.

Cheers,

Ian

Me

My name is Shorty, most people call me Skinny. I am neither. I currently live in Boston, do improv, build web pages to make rent, and take classes at UCB on the weekends.

Howdy,

I'm Dan Grimm, I am about to move to Chicago in a week to start up at the IO. I have workshoped at various fests around the US, I started at Texas A&M with a troupe called Freudian Slip, then continued with Pavlov's Dogs in Dallas. I have been an improv whore for over a decade, and now I am going to starve to death for my 'art' ... (sigh)

PS... I need a job, anyone need a theatrical technician? Sound, Lights, pyro, I kinda do it all.

Hi everybody. I finally found the place for "new kids". I'm Steve, in NYC, been doing improv for about a year and a half now and have rocketed through Levels 1-5 at UCB and currently in Level 4 at Magnet. Some of you I know, some of you I don't, but hopefully we can all engage in witty banter and connect through the wonderful world of web-clickery. Good day!

EDIT: P.S. I forgot to mention: My improv claim to fame thus far is appearing opposite a naked and hairy Ross Bergman in the 2007 UCB Dirtiest Sketch Contest, for which I have yet to receive my share of $3.07.

My name is Don, I haven't started classes yet (at UCB). I moved to NYC from upstate in Syracuse. You can call me Nick Farmcloud, not that anyone does, but you can if you want. This is my dream from the age of 8...

To be apart of this forum. It is a pleasure.

I would say I'm a comedian wannabe only because I don't do it professionally yet.

My hobbies include but are not limited to: guitar.

I enjoy a good laugh on the subway. I also like having casual encounters on craigslist. They just never respond.. :wishy:

I don't know that many people in NYC yet, but maybe on here I can meet that "special someone"

But anyways, I hope to get to know a lot more people down here as I seal my fate.

So drop me a line, or add me on myspace.

Brandon Gardner IS Brandon Gardner

Hey what a great list to be able to add your name to. I'm from Saranac Lake, NY in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. I found short form improv at college at Binghamton University and pretty much decided my freshman year that improv is what I wanted to do with myself. I started taking classes at the UCB after I graduated in '05 and right now I'm on the Harold Team "Bastian" and the Maude Team, "ibadger."

I always feel like I'm a year older than I should be because I repeated first grade for being "too shy" -I still don't know if that was a nice excuse for some sort of learning disability. I have an adopted Korean sister. I once learned how to read Hebrew for a girl. I once had a job cleaning state parking ground toilets. As a waiter I once waited on Alfrie Woodard, the first African-American woman ever to win an Emmy. I have much more body hair than it looks like I would have.

I joined the board last spring and it took me this long to figure out there’s an “introduce yourself” thread. Unless I posted in it already and I don’t remember. But I don’t think I did.

I finished 101 at UCB with Ari and Betsy at the beginning of August. I am waiting to take 201, either as an intensive or if they do a class on a Saturday, I’ll go to NYC every weekend for it. You only live once, right? I otherwise study at ImprovBoston – am starting 301 in a couple of weeks. I took Musical Improv and I was easily the worst person in the class, which greatly surprised me. I just thought I'd be better. Whaddaya know?! (Although in my defense I think I would have done better with a different teaching style.) (It makes me feel better to think of it that way.) And I’m taking an intro class at the Magnet in a couple of weeks.

Other than that: I have cats, hence the nick. I feel that pie is an appropriate food at any meal. I wasn’t born here but I can still be president, technically, but there’s probably too much dirt out there for me to ever actually get elected.

I am seriously considering blowing this taco stand and moving to NYC within a year. Like I said, you only live once. Or I do anyway.

Hey guys. This thread looks like it doesn't get a lot of use. I'm using it, though.

I'm Benjamin, this guy who's typing right now. I've taken the first three improv classes at UCB NY and I'm hearing good things about the Magnet's classes. My favorite teams around here are Derrick and Reuben Williams. My favorite Italian filmmaker is Ermanno Olmi. My favorite shoes are Onitsuka Tigers by Asics. Part of the reason I'm posting this message is that I have a topic I want to start in the NYC thread, but you can't start new topics until you reply to a few existing messages.

I live in Brooklyn.

Hello, I'm Jill.

Hi. My name is Jill Morris. I moved to New York in May from Austin, Texas.

I take classes at UCB and The PIT and perform improv and sketch comedy with The Stamp and Coin Club, Kape, Plan B, and my Project team Kid Friendly.

I live in the East Village and am a part-time fashion assistant, even though I was voted Worst Dressed in high school. I also do some freelance writing for The Onion and The Onion News Network.

I'm excited about everything.
