I'm Fliss, i live in Torquay in Devon and a friend and i are looking at setting up a community theatre group around here in an attempt to use the last 3 years of study (sort of study. i turned up anyway!)

Hi I'm Crazygal

Hi I'm Crazygal. My Christian name is April Brucker. I like to do stand up, ventriloquism (I have seven characters I do and have a very crazy live show),I do origional characters as well(dozens) and am also a voice artist (I traspose my voice easily which has driven another member of this board to post something nasty about me.), and I can sing and tumble peoples. I like improv stuff. I like improv and so do my teachers at the Lee Strasberg Institute (Especially Bill Balzac good man!) it's all good. I also had a few classes at Stella Adler with Noel Wilson, (good man as well). I even did some improv on Mancow this summer in Chicago as a psychic who accused him of killing his daughter. I am also crazy in real life. Ask all the guys I ever dated..........

Oops. I probably should have done this a while back, but I never logged on to the root level of the "Off-Topic Forum" to see this sticky.

Anyway, I'm Damian Chadwick -- I've been taking classes at the UCB since last February. I took level one after making a blood oath with a friend of mine to sign up together. Friend backed out, and I dragged my sweaty, nervous self alone to Jackie Clarke's class and went through with it. To be honest, I really didn't know quite what I was getting into at the beginning. I'd only seen like one show at the UCB and was very unsure how improvisation worked.

If improv had turned out to be some series of gags or tricks I'd probably have gotten sick of it pretty quickly. But of course it really isn't, and I was quite taken with how it had evolved into this amazing flow of ideas on stage. When I try to explain it to friends, I tell them that a good improv scene should unfold like any social interaction. When you're on a bad date, or having a dull, awkward conversation at a party or something, you're constantly "in your head" thinking of the next thing to say. When a conversation is going well and you're grooving with a friend or someone you like, it all just unfolds. You're joking and laughing and saying witty things without trying. Improv, I tell them, is exactly like that.

Hiya,

I'm very glad to be here at this message board at this time in the evolution of the art form that is improvisational comedy. I am looking quite a bit forward to becoming a part of this community and I would like to say hello and pass on the microphone to the next person. As well I would like very much so to say that I have a lot of trouble distinguishing when someone is trying to be funny and when they are trying to be so very real. What is an improviser to do?

wab

P.S. Get it?

I'm Giulia Rozzi, originally from Boston, I just moved to NYC this year after performing at the Improv Olympic West and Comedy Store in LA or almost 4 years. If you are thinking of moving to the West Coast, fell free to PM and I'll tell you whatever I know. I like doing a little bit of everything, writing, producing, improv, sketch, stand up, my one lady show. I enjoy anything adorable.

Hi. I'm Jon Lay. Formerly of Trespassers Only in Cincinnati, Oh (2000-2004), presently in level 1 at the Second City training center in Detroit.

hello

Hi Im Sandy - I've been taking classes in Chapel Hill since last October (w/ dirty south improv). I go to UNC, but originally am from Madison, Wisconsin.

Bring on the cheese.

We're all related anyways, whynot.

Nowaks are my husband and his sister. I'm in shows with them. They got me started in the improv back in '94. Short form style, CSz. Sarah was 3 years old. She's a protege.

I'm an actor, improviser, Book of Ruth afficionado. I believe in the power of the Flow. I also know a woman named Flo. She's friends with the room-mate of Mo.

I've studied with Jay Rhoderick, Matt Higgins, John T., and various and sundry CSz coaches, NYC coaches...including most recently the Illustrious Jen Nails, whom I ADORE. And I currently study acting with Mary Boyer at the MTB Studio, formerly of the T. Schreiber Studio.

Thank you for reading about me.

Hey, you're my brother!

PS: Oh, and the thing is, when I first joined the IRC back in March 2001, I was obsessed with the book Dune by Frank Herbert, and so my login name is a big, angry psycho from that book. Cute.

Odele!

My name Is Austin Brown, I am a Part Time writer and a Full Time medic down in TEXAS. My interests are Motor Vehicle Colisions and Poetry. I cant decide which I like best.

My name is Margaret. I was born in Findlay, Ohio, raised in Melbourne, FL, and moved to NYC 3 years ago. I took level one with Owen Burke at UCB, and learned that I have absolutely no business doing improv. I'll hide in the dark and watch.
I love bourbon.
I work various theatre gigs, mostly musicals, and some voiceover work for an anime company. My avatar is a drawing of me by Fred Perry http://www.cheetaholics.net/ . I think DC Comics is the real American mythology.

Delaney says nice things about my hair.

Frontier Improvisor
Eric Caldwell, co-founder of Morally Improv-erished (est. 2003)... one half of Alaska's entire improv scene. When not trying to figure out how to run a successful troupe in a land-locked town of 30,000 I can be heard spinning house music on public radio, doing grant research for a myriad of causes, and overlooking the mountains and ocean from my living room.

This year will mark several firsts for me - first improv festival attended (CIF 8), first solo performance, and first Mostly Retro Music Video Party played. If I eat all my veggies, maybe 2006 will mark my first festival performance.

Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Improviser
My name is...

Chris Hall. Former Improv Olympian and semi-retired improviser (actually really retired improviser. I live in Cleveland for God's sake.). Went through IO levels 1-5 where I had Charna, Peter, Mullaney, Dassie and Miles (for some reason, my Five B teacher escapes me). Performed with the long-defunct Nougat for a year. Went through two levels at Second City Conservatory until my wife and I got married. (No, that's not why I stopped performing. I just didn't have time).

Wife Karyn; kids Vivian and James

Nice to meet you all!

Ok. so my name is Ernie and I co-founded the 'extremely succesfull" Christian Improv Group Oh Manna. We toured for several years before I got burned out from directing, performing, managing and booking. I am taking some time off from the private party scene (still do some occassionaly if the price is right) and have found a new home with the Orange County Crazies.

I am an Interent Fleet Manager for Honda World Downey and have a beautiful wife and a whole bunch of kids. nuff said?

I find it funny how many regular YesAnd posters are starting accounts or simply uping their usage of their IRC accounts since YesAnd has been down for a few days. What is an improvising online bulletin board addict to do?

I'd been posting here for a while before I discovered my thread so I never introduced myself. I'm Craig. I did improv from '98-'03 with Georgia Tech's Let's Try This! and Worcester Polytech's Guerilla Improv including a year as LTT!'s artistic director. I was in Phoenix for four months with Apollo 12 and Jester'Z. Moved back to Massachusetts January of '04 where I joined back up with GI and in March joined The Tribe whom I've been playing with since. I've just started doing some directing again.

I Engineer Mechanically as a day job. I am employed but job searching, so feel free to entice the ole Craigers to your city with a job offer.

Hi, I'm Dennis Price

I lived and performed in Chicago for about 3 years with a team at the IO called Honeyslide. I also began/directed the "hug chris mcavoy" movement at the IO in chicago.

I moved to maine, did some shakespeare and am heading to New York in April after finishing a directing gig in Bangor, Maine. It's the way life should be.
