If you love In-N-Out Burger as much as I do, run as fast as your undoubtedly fat, stumpy legs will carry you to Petey's Burger, across from the Trade Fair on 30th Ave in Astoria. It was almost undoubtedly started by a former In-N-Out manager or something -- not only are the burgers nearly identical, they're even wrapped the same way. I'm not sure I'd be able to tell In-N-Out burgers from Petey's in a blind taste test. I didn't try to order "animal style," but I have a feeling they might be prepared if I did. While Petey's cuts a few corners (I didn't notice anybody slicing whole potatoes into fries behind the counter), this is as close to the In-N-Out Burger experience as we're likely to get, ever. This being New York... prices were at least 50% higher than at any In-N-Out I've ever been to. But I think it's worth it. Get there before the Times reviews it and the lines become Shake Shack-long.
