My first real crush was my freshman year of high school. I asked a friend to find out if she was interested (smooth), and she said, "no." Though he claims she said it nicer than that.

Two years later, he brought her up, and I had no idea what he was talking about. I was able to piece together a vague recollection, but I couldn't remember her face or her name or anything. I realized I was so hurt I completely blocked out any memory of her.

I'm still pretty freaked out by that.

Molly Ringwald was a commercial actress before she hit it big. When I was 9 and she was 10 she had a paper towel commercial and I fell in love with her.

As for actual women, I asked out Katrina when I was in 7th grade. She said no. Her best friend and my best friend said she was playing hard to get. I never pursued her because I didn't want to be a pest. No means no. Even in 1983 I understood that.

12 years later one of my mom's best friend's was close friend's with her mother. I heard every excruciating detail of her wedding plans at a time when I had no prospects, socially, economically or artistically.

I'm not putting down her last name. I won't friend her on Facebook. This is a fun thread.
