FROM CHICAGO
THE IMPROVISED SHAKESPEARE COMPANY!
Created and directed by Blaine Swen
Starring Ross Bryant, Brendan Dowling, Greg Hess, Thomas Middleditch, and Blaine Swen
JAN 8th - 11th, 2011

After 6 sold-out shows during the UCB Theatre's Del Close marathon week last July, The Improvised Shakespeare Company returns to New York City for 4 shows at Theatre 80 in the East Village.

Based on one audience suggestion (a title for a play that has yet to be written) The Improvised Shakespeare Company creates a fully improvised play in Elizabethan style. Nothing is planned-out, rehearsed, or written. Each play is completely improvised, so each play is entirely new!

The Improvised Shakespeare Company has been performing its critically-acclaimed show every Friday night at the world famous iO Theater for over four years and continues to entertain audiences around the globe with its touring company. The ISC has been featured at the Piccolo Spoleto Fringe Festival, the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, and the prestigious Just For Laughs festival in Montreal. It has been named Chicago's best improv group by both the Chicago Reader and the Chicago Examiner and has received a New York Nightlife Award for "Best Comedic Performance by a Group". The ISC was recently honored by the Chicago Improv Foundation as its "Ensemble of the Year".

I will never forget this show when the ISC first came to NYC for the Del Close Marathon in 2008. That was the most crowded I have ever seen UCB. This show was beyond amazing and I bet every person who was there also still remembers this night. Then a year later - there was the "spit kiss" show at FIT. Another unforgettable show!

As the "recipient" of the spit kiss in the aforementioned "spit kiss" show, I can honestly say that it was the grossest experience of my improv life.

And I wouldn't trade it for anything. I am very hopeful that something even grosser will happen in January.

Reggie Watts!! This guy is geen-yus! We saw him in Montreal and I got to watch him mess with Coco's writers when they were on tour in Chicago. Never miss a chance to see him.

The only thing better than seeing him open for ISC would be seeing every previous ISC show in that run.
