Hey y'all. . . I just wanted to let everyone know that there is improv in southern NC! Every Friday and Saturday night the players of That Improv Show! put on short form smack-dab in the middle of Fayetteville. . . well, not really smack-dab 'cause I think that's the home of an 87-year-old retiree grandma of 12.

But anyhow, we are here, we are kicking, and we'd love to get some reciprocity going between all of the NC shows. We're looking at moving into long-form sometime in the future, but we'll stick with what we can manage now. Let me know if you want some more info about us, and I'm going to try and get our group together to hit up some of y'all's shows soon!

Thats fantastic yo! How did the 24 hour event go?

Did you do shortform for the whole 24 hours? Thats a TON of games. Nonetheless....awesome....

did you all bring in guests to help? Did you all trade off and take sleeping shifts? Sounds like you all got it rocking out there. Maybe some DSI folks can take a trip out that ways sometime.

Our Improv-A-Thon was awesome. . . we were doing it to benefit a fund we've set up called the Save Our Soldiers' Butts Fund. We use all the money to buy care packages for deployed soldiers. The Improv-A-Thon brought in over $3000 for the fund, which is great.

We did the whole thing short-form 'cause that's all we're able to do right now. Our usual show runs right at two hours long, so we just looked at it as doing twelve shows back to back--but yes, it was a helluva lotta games. We took turns on stage--four hours on, two hours off. Some people slept during their off time, but six of us were up for the whole thing. We were purposefully trying to stay up 'cause one of the ways we were raising money was through sponsorships (i.e. you pledge a dollar for every hour I can stay awake during the whole thing). That's where we brought in a great deal of the money for the fund.

We didn't bring in any guests, but we sure would have welcomed them during the 15th and 16th hours! It'd be great if y'all could come down here sometime; we're kind of isolated from the rest of the improv world. I'm going to try to get our gang together to go up there sometime soon.

Improv in NC! WOOOOOO!!!!! C'mon and raise....

ok, I won't be the one who says it.

But a 24 event rocks! DSI folks are always up for road trips and if we can plan a little getaway to Fayetteville I'm sure we could get a vanload of folks to see That Improv Show! If you can get out to Chapel Hill we always have classes going and shows at least two nights out of the week, more on festival weekends and such. We had a 24 hour event in October and we had a bunch of groups from NC play, both short and long forms (and everyone mixed it up at one point or another so there was nothing exclusive at all.) and everyone had a great time (except for those who drank too much Red Bull and couldn't poo). Maybe you'll be able to get in on the next one - everyone's always up for festivals and such. I know you're concerned about short/long form animosity but it's something that we don't really acknowledge much, we're just glad people are playing. Come on down!

Hey Fayetteville people! I saw you at the show last night, thanks for coming by! You saw a weird show - most of the people on-stage hadn't ever done short-form before, but I think we had an ok showing anyway. I said hi to some of you, but to everyone - THANKS FOR COMING TO CHAPEL HILL! We shall return the favor!
