Improv Free Agent List (NYC)

Inspired by Major League Baseball's Free Agent list and a demand to get involved in improv teams, I am endeavoring to create (and maintain) a list of Improv Free Agents (in NYC).

This list will be comprised of experienced improvisors that are not affiliated with theatre house teams but would like to be considered for the creation of new improv troupes in the New York City area.

Many people have their own interpretation of the "experienced improvisor", but since it is important to have a common 'baseline' definition, the Improv Free Agent List will be comprised of improvisors that have completed at least two (2) Level 3 classes at the UCB theatre. This does not mean you MUST have trained at the UCB theatre in order to be on the list. If you feel you have the equivelent experience as one who has taken at least two (2) Level 3 classes at the UCB theatre, then specify and I will paste it into the Improv Free Agent list under the heading "additional info".

The main purpose of the list is to let others know that you are interested, available, and qualified to take on an additional improv endeavor. There are an ever-increasing number of people that fit this criteria and my hope is that this list may serve to prevent great improvisors itching to perform from falling through the cracks. I also hope that seeing a list of such great improv talent may motivate someone to act on his or her impulse to start an improv troupe and thereby taking the first step to satisfying his or her performance desires without depending on others to take the initiative.

So, if you want to be included on this list, please PM me with your Name (Last Name, First Name), some means to contact you that you don't mind being exposed to the public (email address, IRC screenname, ph #, etc.) and confirmation that you have completed at least two (2) Level 3 classes at the UCB Theatre.

If you have any questions re: the Improv Free Agent List, please feel free to post them here or PM me with them. I will post a link to the list on this thread as soon as the first version is available.

Have a nice day!

if you are already on an independent team, can you still be included.
Yes. If you are interested, available, and qualified to take on an additional improv endeavor then you can be included.

Good idea. You should include other affiliations as part of that person's listing.

I often get emails from people who have moved here from other cities and who are looking to get involved in something. I will forward them on to you.

I just think this is such a great idea and I also noticed that there seems to be a great need for this also. I'm really glad that you are the one that's organizing this Sean.

really great idea, although I don't qualify for the list. someone should head a "free sketch writer/performer" list as well. I need a group so bad fo' real.

I should add "And the requirements should encompass rookies to, for said "sketch list". mostly cz I can't afford classes so bad fo' real."

First of all, thanks for the many responses...this list is bigger than I thought!

Will this be a public list, or available to "subscribers"
Public list.

In the request above I mentioned "some means to contact you that you don't mind being exposed to the public" meaning whatever I receive from you I take to mean that you don't mind it being made public. If you do not want contact information you sent me to be available to the public then PM me again and I will update your info accordingly. Since I have not yet published the list, the "public" has not seen the contents of your private message yet.

Thanks for reading.

Draft available here http://sean.filthimprov.com/ImprovFreeAgents.xls

Currently it is available only in MS Excel version but I am looking into putting it into the web where it can be dynamically updated and maintained centrally. In the meantime, I will continue to update it manually.

So...

Start forming improv groups and keep the submissions coming!

If you do not see your name on there yet it's probably because I haven't gotten to it yet. Please give me a few days and then send me a PM with your information again and tell me to "hurry up".
