Yes, Final Cut Pro only works on Mac computers. Most people would probably say Avid is the best NLE program for PC (of course, Avid is actually a large family of programs--the cheapest one is the fairly new Avid Express DV. I see now at their site that they have a new free program but I don't know anything about it).

I'm an FCP user, myself.

I highly recommend you don't use Premiere, it's extremely limited.

Of course, if you're looking for a program for your IBM PC, I haven't a clue. :)

It really depends on what you want to do.....Premiere has more than enough features than I'll ever use.....I probably use 10% of the features........If I'm not mistaken Avid Express is about $1300.

The problem with Premiere 6 is that it's buggy. The code has never been re-written, they just piled bug fixes, new features, and new versions on top of the old code. Premiere Pro, while probably not an FCP killer, should be a much better program. It's been re-written from scratch and has much-increased functionality.

Your PC options are Premiere Pro, Avid XPress DV, Pinnacle Edition 5, Vegas 4.0, and maybe a few others. I think there's another program from Pinnacle. Anybody know if Speed Razor is still around? Is Media100 available on PC?

www.videoguys.com is a good place for someone jumping into the DV world, as is www.adamwilt.com

They didn't fix any of the bugs in Premiere 6.5? I always hear about bugs in software but I never run into any problems....maybe because I don't use all of the crazy features.
