I.O. coming to detroit?

I think this might be the wrong place to post this but, a friend of mine told me i.o. is expanding to Detroit. Is this true or is this BS? He says his source is legit.

Also so this thread isnt boring, do you ever drink before going on stage? I make it a rule not to but i know some improvisers as well as comedians who get pretty buzzed up before every show they do.

There's already a thread about drinking before going on stage. It got pretty annoying. As far as iO in Detroit, you should probably ask Charna.

There have been times when a member of my group will give off that nice alcoholic breath odor while doing our post-show chat. A few years ago I would have flipped out and tried to find a connection between their drinking that night and a poorer level of performance but now I kind of stopped caring. It's their deal and until they fall off stage or show up in a beer coma then I just take care of myself and make sure my habits and behavior reflects my beliefs/preferences. Everything else is out of my control.

I think trying to use improv as an excuse to moderate what is probably a deeper habit or personal preference in someone else's life is a really immature, idealistic goal and a byproduct of being green to the realistic elements of life. If you object to drinking or have certain ideas about how it affects people, you can still keep those opinions as you grow up and have your personal integrity but you will eventually learn to give up on the idea that you can make others see it your way too. You'll also end up seeing your group as a family with its own dysfunctions and you'll learn which ones are worth calling out and which ones are more of personal responsibility and consequence.

All your idealistic goals are achievable through yourself. You don't need to control others to prove personal opinions or truths.
