How can we help the Tsunami victims?

I really want to help all the people affected by the tragic events of the Tsunami. Below are some orgs that accept donations, would anyone be into producing a benefit variety show?

also fyi on NY1 for immediate donations there's a buddhist temple in staten island is accepting cash and clothing and supplies. they made the point that $1 there goes way farther than $1 here but are accepting all things to send overseas. check the www.ny1.com website for the story.

how about helping by physically going to the region? (no, not a free vacation to SE Asia)

I have loads of time, but I'm dead broke.
My mom has volunteered to go there to assist with the various medical groups, but there doesn't seem to be anything for regular able bodied citizen. Volunteer groups typically charge thousands of dollars.
