Hey Houston metropolis lurkers...
----
massive creativity presents…
head, hands and heart: becoming a whole improviser.
8 week course
September 12, 2004 – October 24, 2004
Sundays, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at Helios Rising (411 Westheimer Road)
Early registration rate: $135.00, deadline August 16, 2004.
Final registration rate: $150.00, deadline September 7, 2004
Class size is limited to 12 participants.
This class is intended for people who want to learn the fundamentals of performing improvisation. MacArthur will work with you to hone the three different sensibilities of an improviser:
• Head Skills: Being totally present so that you can identify patterns and unleash your personal genius to bolster your characters and scenework
• Hand Skills: Utilizing your physical gifts and abilities to create worlds that both inspire and ground your characters and scenework.
• Heart Skills: Playing with authenticity and passion to create electrifying characters and scenework.
By the end of this class, you will have a solid foundation for performing comedic and dramatic improvisation in the tradition of Chicago style improvisational theater.
“Mac's classes are some of the best I've taken. They really rejuvenated
my performance and helped change my outlook towards scenework. The
classes helped me bolster my confidence, keeping me calm and committed
in difficult scenes. I worry less about getting stuck or feeling lost
and adrift which really helps me stay "in the moment." I enjoy his
teaching style immensely; he has an uncanny way of making you very
comfortable while drawing good performance from you. There's a good
balance of organic self-discovery and directed learning.” - Bob Apthorpe, Director, Heroes of Comedy Improv, Austin, TX.
