I went to Joseph Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia. Marietta is a suburban town located about 40 miles northwest of Atlanta. The people from my part of Marietta are ultra-white, upper middle class, and responsible for putting Newt Gingrinch into office. If you asked a citizen of Marietta between the ages of 22-35 what his or her hobbies are, "church" would inevitably be one of the answers.
The majority of the alums from my high school are thrilled with the election results. (Surprise!) Here are some posts from a thread on the WHS alumni website titled, "Election Results."

POSTER 1
YES!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
POSTER 2
Yes!!! Unless of course Kerry decides to flip-flop.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
POSTER 3
Can you say," Mr. Kerry, buh-bye?"
How about, "Mr. Daschle, seeeeeeee ya!"
Lets all practice the correct pronunciation of...
RRREEEEPPPPUUUBBBLLLLIIIICCCCAAAAANNNN SSSEEEEEEEEEE-NNNNAAATTE!
Now everybodeeeee,
FOUR MORE YEARS! (whoo!)
FOUR MORE YEARS! (whoo!)
FOUR MORE YEARS! (whoo!)
Okay...I think I have all my gloating out of the way!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
POSTER 4
I just heard that Kerry is supposed to make a statement at 1:00 today. Too bad I'll miss it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
POSTER 5
Morals rule the day. Welcome W for FOUR MORE YEARS!!!!
So relieved this is all over. Tired of all the bickering... LOL
------------------------------------------------------------------------
POSTER 6
Gotta say that I am impressed by Mr. Kerry conceding when he did. I am so thankful that he stuck to his word and did not inflict upon our country the same nonsense that Gore did. Unlike Gore, he chose to bow out with grace and dignity.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
POSTER7
Tuesday will be known as the day the Johns were flushed....
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you feel the glee? Does it touch your soul? Are you impressed by the witticisms and humor?
"Johns flushed..." Get it?
"Morals rule the day!" Really? I thought fear was king in Marietta.
These are the people I cried into my pillow over when I didn't feel accepted. Which was often.
And yet I still want to be popular. Not in my real life. In my high school one. It's never too late!
GO WILDCATS!
