Has Improv made you a better DM

Anybody else see the direct corolation (is that the right word?) between RPG's and Improv? And I of coarse mean AD&D, BattleTech, Vampire:The Masquerade, etc.

Bite on that apple for awhile.

Baseball's a simple game, you throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, SOMETIMES it rains. Think about that for a minute.

By God, yes!

Actually, I think RPGs (esp. D&D) were sort of my inroad to improv. I find that I get the same rush from doing a long form now that I used to get from completing a long D&D campaign back in the day.

When I get together with my old fogey, old-school dork friends once every year or two to "crack to ol' D&D books," I find that the time I've spent in theatre and improv makes the whole damn game about 100 times more fun.

So, basically, hell yeah, improv makes you a better DM.

Makes me a better player

I play D&D once a week. I've been friends with the DM for 20 years (we met in High School when I was slightly younger than Greg).

Improv has helped my play alot and made the overall experience of gaming that much more enjoyable.

Jed -- Plenty of people who play D&D get laid on a regular basis (and not just by your Mom, (since you resorted to the junior high level of insult, I thought I would as well)).

If Greg has done it, we should all be jealous of the man. I have met his girlfriend and she is funny, smart and hot.

Dude its so true. Its so great to come up with an idea that the DM has never come up with to get out of a bind. Shadowrun and Mage are the bestones for this becasue they are so opwneded and nearly ever conviviable idea can be accomplished with the right connections. Anyway the two go hand in hand, they have to or else when your plan "criticaly fails" you wont be stuck tring to explain to The Lone Star why your arm goes "zoom-zoom" everytime you move it.
