Harrisburg PA Comedy Improv Throw Down Festival Aug 13-15, 2010

#22
We're up to 5 different locations where teams are coming from now! NY, NJ, MD, PA and now D.C.!

We also have a guaranteed $500 sponsor regardless how the kickstarter.com fundraiser turns out so at the MINIMUM, the winning team will win $500!

If you're already registered for the festival, I would encourage everyone to promote the kickstarter.com fundraiser so we're able to raise the full $5K we're shooting for. The TEAMS competing have the most to gain because one of the winning teams will be the recipient of the prize money if we reach our goal! ALL of the $5,000.00 we're trying to raise with the fundraiser will be paid out to the winning team if we reach our goal so please help us promote it!

Thanks,
Keith

Here is a new banner anyone can use to help promote the festival. Please link it to http://dontbreakthestreak.com/festival so people can click it to check the schedule!

Everyone here is getting all giddy with excitement and can't wait! It looks like our cash prize is going to be $1,000.00 for the winning team! We need to get the kickstarter fundraiser to blow up before the 1st of August. That's our cut off date to raise the money!

If you have a website and want to help us promote the festival, feel free to use the attached banner!

Thanks,
Keith

Only 6 rooms left for the Improv festival weekend ($45 festival rate) August 13-15, 2010! 717-920-JOKE to reserve rooms!

There is also a comfort Inn and a Holiday Inn and some other hotels right at the same exit but you won't get the $45 rate there.

Thanks,
Keith

"Activity Book" has just been added as the PHIT team #2 coming to the festival! We have about 3 weeks left until the festival! Any festival predictions on who you think is going to win?

There were two hotel rooms left today when I stopped by the club. If you want the group rate of $45 per night call 717-920-JOKE. If they sell out, the Comfort Inn right next door is offering a discounted rate of $55 or $60 per night. You can ask the desk for the number to Comfort Inn if they're sold out when you call. Just be sure to mention the Immprov festival rate.

Kickstarter.com fundraiser about to end!

We had to re-launch the kickstarter project with a lower goal of $1,000 instead of $5,000 The new project is about to expire in 30 hours. We've raised $630 out of the $1,000.00 we need to raise as of 10:30AM Saturday. The project ends at midnight Sunday night. If we reach our goal of $1,000 we complete the fundraiser and the winner of the Comedy Improv Throw Down walks away with $1,000.00! If not, we LOSE all of it and the winner will only walk away with $500.00! If you're interested in backing our project, please make the backing request at this link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dbts/first-annual-comedy-improv-festival-in-central-pen-0

We created some really cool rewards for anyone who donates $3.00 or more so please help us reach our goal! ENDS SUNDAY AT MIDNIGHT!

Thanks,

Keith

Hey, Don't Break The Streak and Keith worked their asses off for this thing and that work showed in how well it went (well, is going).

I didn't catch every team but of the ones I did, I want to say ShawnMikael(s), of Washington, DC did really solid high-quality improv. I don't want to try to list all the things that I think they did well (really, it would take forever-- some I don't know the words for and I'd have to babble on and on about what the move was and what it showed about their improv) but in particular so many of their moves came off of little physical discoveries and that was great to see.

I missed Hustlebot's set, but they did a one night harold Workshop for people who mostly had never seen a harold and had limited long form training (it seemed to be the case in my group anyway). I was impressed by how well they delivered that info, especially considering how big of a task it is. In fact the more I think about it the more impressed I am with how they did it. I thought about it, and I don't think I'd even attempt it.

Thank you SO much to everyone that came to help make this festival a memorable event! The feedback from everyone was off the charts and we are so happy to have met everyone that competed! The winner of the 2010 Comedy Improv Throw Down is ShawnMikael(s) from Washington, DC! Face Off, our new friends from New York, along with the musical genius of MishMash (also from New York!) and Hustlebot straight from Pittsburgh were the other three finalist heading into the Sunday afternoon competition. ShawnMikaels and Face Off were the heads up battle troupes for the last show of the festival! With only a 1 point difference between a 4 judge panel ( scoring on a scale of 1 - 10). The DVD will be available in a few weeks!
Check back on our website for new video clips from the Comedy Improv Throw Down that JUST ended today!

Hi Keith,

I had a blast at the CITD, and I believe my fellow Fling! members did, too. (Our sister group, Blank Slate, also seemed to be having a good time.) CITD was our first festival, first competition, and first time not performing for a predominantly friends and family audience. Seeing so many different groups and types of improv was definitely a learning experience.

Thanks for hosting!

Face Off from New York, NY!
Face Off missed the gold comedy cup by a mere point! This troupe preformed at top notch at every performance and had the crowd laughing from the time they stepped on stage until well after their time was up! Great job Joe, Eric and Jay! Face Off is highly recommended!
