Judging Criteria / Method

This Comedy Improv Throw Down will have three judges, each scoring the performance on a scale of 1-10. Judge number 1 is an expert in the field of improvisation and will be judging based on any long form / short form technical matter. The second judge will be a local celebrity and will vote solely on his or her entertainment value of the sketch. The third judge is a representative of the people...the people in the audience that is! The third judges job requires him or her to observe the audience more closely and monitor the "entertainment value" from the audience perspective and vote accordingly thus involving the entire audience into the voting process as well. (If you have fans, convince them to come root for your troupe!)

We're going to have a great Improv weekend and the opportunity to learn from others, what their strong points are, all in a peer to peer equal environment. Improv actors helping other improv actors period. Ok, we will be drinking a little too... some of us maybe a lot but we WILL be having fun either way. Come on out to a new type of improv Festival and tell everyone you were here when they did the first one back in 2010!

Register Here today!

It's official, Dave Warick, the LA improv guru will be our technical judge for the improv throw down August 13-15, 2010 at the Harrisburg Comedy Zone!

Greg Maughan from PHIT was gracious enough to allow me to copy Dave's bio from their site so here it is for anyone who doesn't know Dave!

David Warick has worked as a professional actor, improviser, teacher and writer for over fifteen years. He is a member of SAG, Actors Equity, the Writer’s Guild and the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Guild.

After graduating from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts he trained and performed with The Groundlings, The Second City LA, and Los Angeles Theatresports for over ten years. At Los Angeles Theatresports he regularly performed in the groundbreaking long-form show, TRIPLE PLAY. He later wrote for Paramount, Fox and Walt Disney Television and was a story analyst for Artisan Entertainment, IFC, Avenue Pictures and director Michael Mann.

David has taught improv to adults, teens and kids on both Coasts. In Los Angeles, he developed the popular teen improv stage show LAUGH OUT.

In July 2005, David founded the Delaware Comedy Theatre. In addition to teaching workshops and classes for DCT, he has also served as director for the sold-out shows “A Chili Sumo Christmas” and “Cupid Shoots Self In Foot.”

In addition to his theatrical work, David is a founder of Ziksana Consulting - a firm that specializes in using improvisation for corporate training.

WHAT STUDENTS SAY ABOUT DAVID:
"He is a God." - "He really expanded my knowledge and beliefs about what good improv could be." - "WONDERFUL energy and a terrific personality" - "Dave was awesome."

I have two questions for everyone, How much interest would there be in the improv community, if we taped and streamed the Improv Throw Down live over the internet for people to watch. Would that be something anyone would be interested in? Secondly, what do you think would be a fair price to be able to log in and out the entire weekend and watch what's going on as it happens.

If there is enough interest in this I'll check into the logistics and see if it's possible!

Only 13 rooms left for the Comedy Improv Throw Down 8/13-15/2010

I just checked the room status the weekend of our improv festival in Harrisburg and they only have 13 rooms left! If you're attending the event, call 717-920-JOKE to reserve a room before they're sold out!

If they sell out before you get a chance to register, there ARE other hotels right next door and in the immediate area but the rate won't be the $45 rate the Harrisburg West Inn & Convention center is giving us but it will also be a discounted rate for that weekend.

Thanks,
Keith

Kickstarter.com approved our fundraiser so we are officially trying to raise $5,000.00 to be used as the prize package for the 2010 Comedy Improv Throw Down in Harrisburg, PA August 13-15, 2010. You can support the project or look at all of the cool items we are giving away in exchange for your donations and support!

The way kickstarter.com works is you have a specific amount of time to try and raise your money. If you succeed, your project is fully funded and everything works out! That means someone is walking home $5,000.00 richer at the end of the Throw Down! If we DON'T meet our $5,000.00 goal, NONE of the money gets funded so it's ALL OR NOTHING!

Help us out if you you think spreading creativity and entertainment is a great positive thing to do!

Here is the link to our fundraiser! Thanks in advance for your support to anyone who helps us! We REALLY want to give away $5,000.00 in August! Help us make that happen
