Also, though, I agree with what Jane is saying across the board. Well put.
I think that every performer should tech something at least once because then you realize how fucking hard that job is... but also, I think that tech people, especially in improv, have to gauge the energy of the performers and not the audience to black stuff out. True, the booth is the 9th player on the team - and in my opinion the most important... and I know that at UCBT the tech people are truly respected and appreciated.

it is, however, very hard to take notes on what you thought was really funny when you're keeping a close watch on the technical aspects of the show/keeping an eye out for when to call the blackout. i'd guess that's what patbaer and spacedani were refering to. anyway, i thought the tech was really good thursday, and in fact has been really good at every ucb show i've seen. if they're not paying attention, they should keep it up cause it's working.
