Good restaurants near IO?

I can't vouch for good because I haven't eaten there, but there's a popular Ethiopian place right down the street (Addis Ababa ?) that people seem to like. There's a Heaven on Seven and a Penny's Noodles also nearby, as well as Pick Me Up Cafe which has delicious grub.

Anything in particular you're looking for?

Addis Ababa is delicious, but bring a few friends because it's communal cuisine. Penny's Noodle Shop sustained me well through many episodes of extreme poverty, but it's not what I'd call a daddy's-payin'-type place. There was an Italian place on Clark a block or two north of Belmont that the well-paid improvisers (especially couples) seemed to love, but I don't remember the name, don't know if it's still there, and can't vouch for it personally.

Ooh! I loooove Ethiopian food and am constantly trying to con my parents into trying in when they are in NYC. Now I'll try it in Chicago. Thanks! Thanks to Goldfish Boy, too.

seems like you've already decided, but i like addis abeba too! you get a section of what you ordered and you eat it with this spongy bread.

no utensils!

(unless you count straws)

That would be injera bread, and I loooove it as much as I loooove Ethiopian in general. I've been a fan for almost 5 years after trying it in LA. There's a place here in NYC that I hit whenever I can.
Just talked Dad into it- he's making a 6 pm reservation before the 8pm IO shows.
Thanks again, all you!

Ooh! Where? Where? Where? I've found plenty of Ethiopian places in Chicago, Philly, DC...but none yet in NYC.
Meskerem, 2 locations:
McDougal, just south of W. 3rd Street by the NYU Law School
Corner of 47th and 10th.
Sooooo good.

Are you talking about Mia Francesca's? Closer to Addison and on Broadway, there is a good Italian place called Anna Marie's. Or there used to be.

Depending on what you want, there are a ton of good places on Clark.

Is Mongolian BBQ still there?

Yeah, that's it--Mia Francesca's. Closer to Addison? Are you sure? I thought it was a little above School St. Maybe I'm thinking of someplace else.

Mongolian BBQ is still there, though I've never been.

A little farther south in Lakeview it's stuffed with fancy restaurants, and if you head down Clark to Belmont there are like 4-5 Indian restaurants to choose from as well as the Pizza Capri. That place has awesome pizza.

GFB, I think Gwyn is talkin' bout Anna Maria's Pasteria (still there) because Mia Francesca's is exactly where you say it is.

No, that's what I meant. Mia Francesca's is on Clark near Belmont.
AND there is another good place called Anna Maria's...

Isn't that what I said? It was two separate thoughts. One sentence ended with a Question, for GFB and then the new sentence began.
