Good karaoke lounges?

So I'm looking for a place with a lounge (private rooms not necessary) that wouldn't be ridiculously crowded on a Saturday (i.e. 2nd on 2nd) and isn't Lucky Changs (those drag queens are too frisky). A good selection is a plus. I figure all the spotlight hogs in the improv scene could point me to some good ones...

Any ideas?

Not sure what is considered a lounge in a karaoke setting, the main area that is open to the public? It's a bar setting, so not so loungey. But it's really fancy looking and upscale, trendy.

When someone says lounge, I think couches, velvet, smoke, and, well, I picture an opium den.

'not crowded on a Saturday night' may be tough.

That being said, here are some places:

Planet Rose (13th and A)
Sing Sing (5th and A, also one on St Marks)
Chorus (32nd between 5th and 6th upstairs; very cool lounge)

Just the first part. The main area. Doesn't need to be fancy, just not horribly crowded so you can get a song in once in a while.

Yeah, also Spotlight Live on Broadway, I enjoy. Buuuut the place is really weird about sometimes kicking customers out for private parties or randomly becoming a dance club...but it's big (like 3 stories) and full of couches and chairs and tables, with a great stage (lights, instruments, etc) and hilariously awkward backup singer/dancers. But still, I've had both the best and the worst times there. A risky bet.

Chorus is upstairs on the block of Koreatown (32 between 5th and 6th). It's got private rooms but the lounge is cool and metallic - think Lost in Translation. Nice drinks, interesting song selection. Get drunk and go out for barbecue afterwards. : )

Winnie's is the best place in this whole city (maybe after UCB, but still) It's a karaoke bar in Chinatown with awful Chinese 80's music video and looks like the bar out of Huey Lewis's Sports cover. It's at Baynard and Baxter. It does fill up sometime but never with the vibe of a crowded East Village spot. I will say it was much cooler when the bar-back was a drunken chinese dwarf who wore a robe and told stories of being a stunt-man filling in for children in 80's kung-fu films. We miss you where ever you are sir!

Chorus is a great place! There are tons of karaoke places up and down Koreatown.

Also, Sing Sing has a second location that's sometimes a little less crowded:
81 Avenue A (Between 5th and 6th street)

But I still prefer the Sing Sing on St. Marks.

Planet Rose doesn't have private rooms.

I. Love. Karaoke!
