Good Bars for an Informal Party?

I want to have a B-Day get-together for a friend, without formally reserving a private room. What are some good bars w/lots of space (& places to sit) downtown or Chelsea or Hell's Kitchen?

Every year I have my b-day party at Korova Milk Bar (13th and Ave. A).

It's based on the bar from the movie A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, the space is big, temperature is pleasant, good looking male and female tattooed bartenders.

The jukebox is a lot of rock, and industrial type music. Late night weekends there is a DJ
