THE FRIARS CLUB IMPROV + SKETCH COMPETITION RETURNS IN 2011

SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR LIVE COMPETITON TO BE HELD AT THE UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE THEATRE IN NEW YORK

ATTENTION IMPROV AND SKETCH PERFORMERS: FrISC is back for 2011!
Submit now for your chance to win this year’s FrISC title, cash prize and the chance to make a short film that will debut at the 2011 Friars Club Comedy Film Festival in October.

Open to improv and sketch performers worldwide, FrISC was launched last year by the Friars Club in effort to foster the next generation of comedy filmmakers. By exploring the depth of talent in the improv and sketch communities, the Friars Club seeks to discover the next comedy film legends and help advance their careers to the next level. 2010 FrISC winners The Stepfathers (improv) and Harvard Sailing Team (sketch) debuted their short films to a sold-out crowd at the 2010 Friars Club Comedy Film Festival this past fall, and you could be next!

To enter, your team must submit a demo of your show to the Friars Club postmarked by May 10. The Friars Club Comedy Film Festival will select the best 5 improv and the best 5 sketch submissions to perform at the second annual FrISC event at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City on June 24 and 25. The 10 FrISC finalists will compete in the live competition where a judges panel made up of Friars and comedy stars will select the top team in each category. Each winning team will receive a cash prize to be used to make a short film that will premiere in October at the 2011 Friars Club Comedy Film Festival.

We’re excited to see what this year’s competition brings, so submit early and submit often, and good luck! Please contact us at FrISC@FriarsClub.com if you have any questions.

See you in June!
