In the shower this morning I realized today is the fourth anniversary of my move to New York. It made me curious about how long youse have been here. Maybe you grew up here. Maybe you're out of town and never have been to NYC and you just read the New York forum to see what those crazy New Yorkers are up to this time. What is it, huh?

I had my 9th NYC anniversary this year on September 30. Three more years and I will have lived here as long I lived in each of my two "hometowns."

9/01/01 - I enjoyed ten whole days of a pre-9/11 New York.

Note: The first show I saw at UCB right when I moved here was John 3:16 with Rob Lathan, Will Hines, John Gemberling and Paul Scheer (filling in for SHIT-STORM's Brian Berrebbi).

My concern is, does my Long Island upbringing damage my "native" New Yorker cred? (It wasn't "nice" Long Island, by the way.) Many of my relatives remained on the Lower East Side, so I spent a lot of time in "the city."

Semantics? Geography? How do I count this? I am far too neurotic about this. Therefore I am a true New Yorker. Fuck it.

I moved here in January 1999. . .almost 6 years ago

Not long after saw my first UCB show (Assscat). Didn't take classes until 3 years later, though. I was too busy canning vegetables and looter-proofing my Y2k bunker.
