Final Cut Pro to Avid

Hey all,
I've been working with Final Cut Pro 1-3 for a while now, and I am presented with the chance to start editing some TV stuff using Avid Express. I have never used Avid (curse my budgeted film school education) but I am pretty well versed with FCP. I'm just wondering on the main differences between the two programs as far as ease of use and functionality.
Thanks,

Not as much as you would think. The basics are the same all over. Avid is built for more of "space" to do a number of large project.

They both have basic editing, text tools, jpg pdf wave & .moive import options, and color correction. Only thing you get now with FCP 4 is a kick ass "sound library" and finishing program that comes with it. AVID still makes you buy sound finishing seprately, or just take to a professional mixer.

Do you own a Mac or PC?

No worries, and good luck. Have Mac too, getting G5 soon. Makes me want to blow a load in my pants at how quick it is.

FYI-I always had to do my own graphics before in Illistrator, or Quark before. FCP 4 comes with all these tricked out graphic styles, movements, shadding, color, and so much more. It's called "title tool" and comes with it out of the box. FCP 4 is awesome, they really listened to the independant DV community and delivered to us. Good luck with your choice and rock on!

Have another question..
What is the best program to use for cutting someone or something out of a blue/green screen and tracking them?
