[Dublin] Ireland

#5
I don't live in Ireland, but I'm a citizen, and my family has talked quite a bit about spending some time there. What is the local Improv community like in Dublin? I have quite a bit of experience in directing/coaching long form, and I'd be very happy to assist in any way I can. :)

I'm thinking about coming to Ireland if I can get a fellowship out there to study improv and comedy festivals. What should I check out?

Sandra Austin's cover blown!

hello hello!!
i've just come across this site and i see my name is on it! how come i haven't found it before????

i'm Sandra (hiya GFB!), i'm in Dublin, and i'd LOVE to do some long form. i've done a lot of short form improv, and brought ComedySportz to Dublin when i returned from Philadelphia 2 years ago (check out our website at www.dublincomedy.com). My long form experience is sadly lackling (couple of workshops in armando (?) and leGrande) but i've been lucky enough to observe LunchLady Doris in action many times; the hottest longform group in Philly. they rock!

so count me in for any workshops etc, and come along and check out ComedySportz.

cheers,

Sandra

Welcome to the board, Sa! Miss you. What's Annalivia mean? How are the devious biology experiments going?

You know someone's a longform fan when she volunteers to watch a rehearsal of a longform group.

Grand.

cheers

Sandra, howdy!

Heya! Are you guys (Comedysportz) currently rehearsing at St. Nicholas de Myra's near St. Pat's/Christchurch? If so, the world just shrank another inch, as I've been 3 doors down in the same hallway for 3 weeks, rehearsing a play. Would love to see about getting some longform together. I think it has to be done. I'll come by Doyle's some Wednesday (probably in June) and see the show.

Long form coming to Dublin for the Fringe

I just stumbled across this thread and got really excited. A long form show that I'm in here in Chicago, called Chairs is coming for the last week of the Dublin Fringe Fest (Oct 2-Oct 10, I think). We did Edinburgh last year, the Chicago Improv Fest earlier this year, and are doing the Del Close Marathon later this month.

Does anyone have any experience with the festival? What are some cool places to hang out?

I look forward to hopefully meeting some Irish improv brothers and sisters.

Chairs in DFF

Matt -

Way cool that you folks are gonna be in the Fringe Festival. It seems to be a very exciting festival, with a good bit of press/audience attention.

There are loads of places to hang out. Where, I'd say, depends on where you guys will be performing. When you are given that info, please post it.

All the best, and hope your journey and time here are both great.
