Do something else

Perhaps now is a good time to mention that Armando Diaz will be teaching an excellent improv-to-sketch class at Juvie Hall starting next Saturday. And there are still a few slots open.

Check out all the burdgeoning action, or sign up, at:

Am i being retarded about this?
When a person asks a quesition that begins with "Am I" most of the time, it can be answered by switching it to a statement beginning with "I am." Take that for what it's worth, in regards to how you feel about all this, and what it means in the grand scheme of things.

The one thing you (and by you, I mean EVERYONE who feels the way you do but isn't posting) need to realize is that if you read the list I posted before, everyone who performs, or wants to perform, at UCB at some point IS the person in rule 3 or rule 4. Most of us who are 4's, got there because we got too involved with the bullshit instead of taking that energy and focusing it on becoming a better performer.

Also, the brutal truth is that you aren't don't need to be, and should be, in the loop. When you're on the e-mail list, and it affects you, then and only then do you need to know whats going on with all the bullshit. And trust me, the Bullshit ain't all it's cracked up to be.

So rather than getting caught up in the bureacracy and pecking order bullshit that doesn't exist outside of the minds of most of us who get caught up in it, focus on your craft.

Go do a silly scene or a smart scene, or a crazy scene or a tragic scene, or a bizzare scene.

Do a terrible scene, or a mediocre scene, or a transcendental life altering I just figured this shit out scene.

Just whatever you do, don't get CAUGHT UP IN THE SCENE. Cause that'll kill your ability to do everything else.

Also, Anthony sleeps with harold teams and kills hookers. Get the rumors straight.

I can still name the founding fathers from my national fraternity.

Carter Ashton Jenkins
Benjamin Donald Gaw
William Hugh Carter
William Andrew Wallace
Thomas Temple Wright
William Lazell Phillips
Lucian Baum Cox
Richard Spurgen Owens
Edgar Lee Allen
Robert McFarland
Franklin Webb Kerfoot
Thomas McCaul

William L Phillips signed my fraternity's (DC Alpha) charter, in 1909. We call him Uncle Billy.

This is one of my favorite lists.

JOEY CATZ'S 12 RULES TO LIVE BY* TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THE ANNUAL UCB ARTISTIC SHAKE UP
I think you're about 99% right, Joe, but I think we should talk about the other 1% where you're wrong...

I would like to note that there are 3 SIGMA PHI EPSILON references in this thread about UCB harold teams.

JOEY CATZ,
BALANCED MAN AWARD WINNER, Florida Epsilon, 1994.

make that 4.

Rumors are bad and trust me, I've heard a lot ($5 bucks a rumor, just PM me). All the people at UCB who have worked hard, are continuing to work hard and have difficult decisions to make deserve the time, chance and opportunity to explain what is happening. I don't envy them.

That being said, an explanation, when it is ready, is in order. Respect on all sides is what I believe to be most important. Respect for the decisions made and respect for the community in how these decisions are made and disclosed. If things aren't explained and people still feel out of the loop then bring on the chit-chat and open the floodgates.

UCBT is really great because it is most often a wonderfully supportive community. So, in the mean time, lets be supportive and support those who have to make some hard decisions.

Now that I wrote this I've realized how vapid it is. In my attempt to be diplomatic, I've basically said nothing of any real worth...oops. Fuck it, most people know what's going on and if not, just dig a little. You can't walk three steps in MAcManus without hearing something!

ehhh. i feel secluded. Anyways, can we go about releasing this info differently next time? like a follow up anouncement on the boards or something, like a "dont go crazy other people, this is whats going on" anouncement?
I would add a couple of rules to Joey's list:

13) The management will release information selectively, and some people who have put a lot of time and effort into the theater will be frustrated that they have been left out of the loop.

14) At least one person will post about it in a public forum, which certain other people (generally in management) will find annoying and/or infuriating. This person risks being chastised.

15) 99.9% of the people in all of the above categories care a lot about improv and the UCB, and think they are doing the right thing.
