DCM '08 Highlights

#41
[strike]Phillip Wilburn[/strike] James Adomian killed me every time as:

Frank Caliendo in America's Best Comic
Gary Busey in Smartest Panel of Experts... ("I will NOT talk without my teeth!")
Orson Welles in Match Game.

Seriously committed and hilarious in each one. Wish he lived here.

Other highlights not yet mentioned:

St. Patrick's Wake which at one point turned into a co-wake for Bernie Mac, including drunk irish impressions of Richard Pryor and Chris Rock.

Match Game '76: "Bernie Mac is dead while Jack McBrayer lives?! FUCK YOU WORLD!"

also in Monkeydick, when Decoster was trying to do a walk on and they wouldn't answer the door. In the mean time Curtis started talking shit about a 3rd floor record store...and when they finally open the door, Decoster storms right up to Curtis and starts punching him because he is the owner of the record store.

I was laughing so hard, yet I was so scared that Matt wasn't going to stop there, and kill us all.
I love that when Decoster first rang that doorbell... you knew he didnt have the intention of being the record store clerk. But after Curtis goes, "That Record store is bullshit", MD makes that fucking kick ass move of coming in to, "You talking shit about my record store?" Then we cut to the record store, and, Foxworthy nails it. AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I wish Will Hines was still alive so Monkeydick could play more.

Also, Proffesor Casey "Oh I'm so dizzy"

TO CATCH A PREDATOR was fucking awesome, shit was math -- new person, geth specific in the fridge, scheer "why don't you do that on me", knock, get the fuck out of here... every time, fucking funny...

That may have been my favorite line of the night. Poor Jack Mcbrayer...

Also Gary Busey was impeccable, I couldn't stop laughing. George Lucas was also top notch.

"The Shower" on Sunday morning at the theater was one of the best shows I caught at the marathon.

And of course it's been said...but WeirDass. Wow wow wow.

I didn't think Improvised Shakespeare could live up to the hype, but gosh they were good.

Playbook was a lovely surprise.

And, of course, Monkeydick.

My Favorite Moments:

Discovering a room full of wigs with Shit-Storm right before we drunkenly performed the worst show of all time.

Rocco making a change purse out of his balls during the Dirtiest Improv show.

Heckling Schwartz with Pixar references.

Horatio lighting smoke bombs behind the curtain in the two minutes before Cosby-prov took the stage -- while the other group was still performing -- then him not even taking the stage with us. Five minutes into the show, I look at a worried Gelman who whispers to me, "where's the Joker?"

Daly's Willie Nelson and Gemberling's "Time To Make The Donuts" Guy.

Eric Scott sitting in with a bunch of early morning groups.

DJing what I thought was Mother's best soundtrack show, and getting to play the music for Ruebin Williams again.

The couple that was "Dance Fighting" at the after party.

The shows/highlights you saw were not improvised by the people on stage. UCB just admitted that an ugly 7 year old girl with shitty teeth improvised the shows from the booth while the people on stage lip-synched.

Director's Commentary was one of the funniest shows I've seen.

"No sleeves? Don't have to pay for sleeves."
"Me. Not me."
And the Van Dam - Lundgren jokes were all hilarious.

Yes, the Dave & Buster's power user bit during Ruben Williams was also really great.

I'm still in awe of Improvised Shakespeare, especially their Saturday night show. Hamilton-Burr was amazing, and I loved their two speeches to the "legislature," especially when Hamilton responded to a lone cheer from the audience by replying, "Thank you, Rochester."

And Baby Wants Candy had a great show on Sunday at the UCB. It's a tiny venue for them and yet they were able to move around, kicking, spinning, and carrying each other. I loved that someone called out that the Kit Kat Kaboodle could be shortened to the KKK.

GLAD SOMEONE NOTICED!!

Another highlight...

...at the afterparty, Alan Starzinski would go out on the dance floor every 20 minutes, put his drink down, come really close to dancing, then briskly walk off the dance floor shaking his head, pick up his drink and say, "not drunk enough yet."

I found "The 1986 Mets Extravaganza" quite enjoyable to watch.
It was hilarious when Will Hines stumbled on saying his character's name right after Gethard asked him who he was.
Then after everyone was introduced, only 01:50 was left to perform a monoscene.
Also, their suggestion for a place was "Shea Stadium".

Bassprov at Hudson Guild:
"A werewolf and a vampire?" "That's easy. Benicio del Toro."
And the spectacular time-machine sequences.

The very meta Baby Wants Candy from Thursday night about improvisors.

And, Monkeydick.
