DCM '08 Highlights

I loved the craziness of Police Chief Rumble.

I normally don't like improv shows that involve only talking, but Bruckheimer did such a great job of painting a picture that it was wonderful.

Speaking of stuff that suprised me, I normally wouldn't like the concept behind Wicked Fuckin' Queeyah, but at 2:00 in the morning after seeing Improv all night, it worked really well.

I'm not sure how to classify the Shannon/Gethard fight in the Stepfathers show. It certainly was interesting.

Pudding-Thank-You's Peter & Gabriel/Peter Gabriel moment was worth the $25 dollars all by itself.

Other highlights:
The rhyming couplets during Improvised Shakespeare's Cabbage Patch Faerie scene.
Baby Wants Candy: "What do I know about horses?"
Stamp and Coin Club's shoes
Fat Penguin and John Edwards
Bad Data and Pink Floyd
Veal's final song/medley
DHT's camera phone/calling Mom
Krompf's Reasonable Ghost

This is only my 2nd DCM. This time last year, I was sick of it all and didn't want to ever see improv or laugh again. This year, I'm pumped up and ready for more. I miss the bracelet on my wrist.

Thanks everyone!

The Scheer/Mcbreyer bus (sat night) made me super happy.
Rogue Elephant: Jim's delayed death & Nate's callback, Eddie's "Proud to be a Cowboy" song
5 dudes: Their opening also made me super happy
Monkeydick: Neil's simple callback to Lathan's Orange Julius scene. He barely said one word and it was brilliant.

I laughed myself delirious during this scene.
That Monkeydick scene was so funny I literally pulled a stomach muscle laughing at it. No joke, I've been in actual pain the last day and a half from laughing at that scene. I was told that it was 11 minutes long. It was such a stupid, simple joke that there was NO WAY it should have stayed absolutely hilarious for 11 minutes straight...but that's why Monkeydick is awesome.

"They know I know why they are here."

"Yes, but why are they here?"

"Because I know something about them, and they know I know."

I'm also gunna say that Mantzoukas Brothers was an awesome show, man those guys commit.

Gemberling: Gentleman, have a seat. You are here because I know something about all of you-

Everyone: We know!

Curtis: WHY ARE WE HERE?

C, C + C's SuperCageMatch set was my favorite show of the Marathon.

Close seconds are Police Chief Rumble and Birch's photo captions of the Shit-Storm show, which are better than the show itself. As a matter of fact, The Love Guru was better than that Shit-Storm show. That show was ridiculous even by Shit-Storm standards. Okay, I changed my mind. Shit-Storm was my favorite show of the Marathon.

also in Monkeydick, when Decoster was trying to do a walk on and they wouldn't answer the door. In the mean time Curtis started talking shit about a 3rd floor record store...and when they finally open the door, Decoster storms right up to Curtis and starts punching him because he is the owner of the record store.

I was laughing so hard, yet I was so scared that Matt wasn't going to stop there, and kill us all.

Thank You, Robot and Fat Penguin were both absolute joys to watch. The total trust TYR has for each other onstage is nearly unparalleled, and Fat Penguin's patience in their monoscene. I swear, Johnny McNulty swinging on a rope, trying to get enough momentum to sneak a picture in an open window and Amber's cancer-cough upon exiting the scene, such great moments!

I spent about 3 hours sleeping in the back row of Urban Stages early Sunday morning, and getting woken up by Dizzy Bat Improv was great. "He's not dizzy enough!"

Another highlight...

...at the afterparty, Alan Starzinski would go out on the dance floor every 20 minutes, put his drink down, come really close to dancing, then briskly walk off the dance floor shaking his head, pick up his drink and say, "not drunk enough yet."
