Advanced Improvisation: The Finesse of the Masters –Dan Goldstein
This course helps good improvisers become great ones by teaching them the language and skills of the improv masters. Expertise comes about from being able to identify and respond to patterns which arise in improvisation. The skills taught in this course will allow improvisers to handle all manner of improvised situations with confidence and grace. Though extensive scenework, students will learn how to: create memorable characters, compliment the ensemble, raise suspense, engage the audience, move the story without forcing it, play to a mood, and other essentials of advanced
improvisation. (Limited to 14 students)
MONDAYS 7pm-10pm Begins June 2nd(6 weeks-$250)

Dan Goldstein began creating improvisational theater formats in 1994 with Chicago's SITCOM, which went on to be produced over 13 times in cities from San Francisco to Slovenia, and followed its success with COMMEDIA DELL'HIGH SCHOOL, produced in Chicago, Boston, New York, and Seattle. Dan's teaching experience includes giving workshops at The University of Chicago, Stanford University, Harvard University, as well as at festivals in the US, Germany, The Netherlands, Slovenia, and Bosnia Herzegovina. As a creator of Sitcom, Dan won Chicago's Morton-Murphy Award as has been featured on the cover of Chicago Magazine as well as in The Chicago Tribune, The Chicago Reader, and The Boston Globe. Dan studied and performed improvisation at The Second City Conservatory, The Improv Olympic Theater, The Annoyance Theater, The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, and The University of Chicago. He is the director of Above Kleptomania's house team STOCKHOLM SYNDROME .
