Current Improv Crushes

Liz Noth is one of the sharpest, funniest, most surprising improvisers I have ever had the honor of playing with. Her straight men and her goofballs are equally keen, observant and reactive, and she is either effortlessly sailing through game moves, or taking a scene with no heart and giving it an emotional core and a sense of time and place. Also, one time she played a character who had too many marshmallows in her mouth, and I still laugh thinking about it.

Liz is incredibly good. It's like it's in her blood. It's like she's princess Leia with a super high midichlorian count in her blood. In that scenario her brother would be a jedi, but that's not what this is about. It's about her knack for game. It's in her bones. It's like from out of her bones come adamantium and boom, there's the game. She's like Wolverine's sister. Her commitment is incredible too, I always believe the characters she plays. Incredible actor. She reminds me of the British television chef Tamasin Day-Lewis.

Hey guys couldn't help but notice that we're all talking about how Liz Noth is the best. Mind if I join?

Liz adds gravity to every scene she's in. She forces her scene partners to match her acting chops, which results in some of the most committed scene work you'll see. Can't look bad when she's on stage. She won't let it happen.

Pompadour.

I love watching improvisors get on the same page so quickly, and so effortlessly, even when transitioning from scene to scene. Every time I have seen them, they've been great.

2nd that on Pompadour.

It's really rare to see a 3prov team fill out a world and a stage picture so seamlessly. Their shows are always filled with support, great scene work, and rich callbacks. They are my favorite team to watch!

Kurt Guenther brings so many fun ideas to scenes. His characters feel well developed from the start. He's also quick to adjust and incorporate everyone else's information. Sharp improv mind.

Kurt Guenther is one of the most sincere performers out there. He reacts to everything with emotion and new information
Darin Guerrasio is a beast. He goes at 110% in every show he's in.
Dan Klein gets me with every move he makes

THE REGULARS.
Every time I see these guys they are such a delight. What do i like about The Regulars?
1. They surprise each other
2. They surprise themselves
3. They make good use of the stage and theater space
4. They seem unafraid to fight their way out of a moment of confusion. Excited, even.
5. They fuck with each other, challenge each other, call each other's bluff. And they make it work.
6. They play like they swinging big dicks.
7. They hide the blueprints- I don't feel like I'm watching a Harold, I just feel like I'm watching a good show.

fuck yeah, Ben says exactly what is great about The Regulars, always holding themselves to the highest standard, always practicing the idea of treating the audience like poets and scholars.

Sean O'Reilly is a pure delight. In a set at Triple Crown last week, I was privileged to watch him portray Don Rickles for fifteen glorious minutes, and every one of them was solid gold.

I distinctly remember meeting Sean O'Reilly for the first time and immediately liking him. He's always a pleasure to watch (for the love of god see him perform with The Serling) and always a pleasure to talk with.

Also, have you seen him play music? He and Evan Boshi throw DOWN.
