I love all the kudos and love going around and I think we'd be amiss to not include ComedySportz. They're the longest running game in town and boast some of my favorite comedians...

What amazes me is that they are everywhere! Did you know...
  • Dave Jadico and Alex Bechtel are rocking 1812 in a show penned by Don Montrey
  • Dave Dritsas and Eoin O'Shea are performing on a cruise ship for 4 months with Second City
  • Karen Getz is synonymous with both Live Arts and Dirty Dancing
  • Kelly Jennings is a mainstay at Philly Shakes
  • Sean Curran is Mr. Gamervision
  • Bobbi Block teaches improv as far away as Australia
  • Jason Stockdale runs the Phanstormers and is a PHIF producer
  • Alli Soowal is a PHIF producer and my personal savior
  • Alexis Simpson runs the Philadelphia Joke Initiative
  • Kelly Vrooman hosts the Sunny Side Up Show

...that's only a handful of CSzers. All of this amazing stuff and they still put on a kick ass weekly show and win Barrymores.

But what has me super psyched is that they're stepping up big time in 2010 by hosting Tournament!!!

So let's hear some love and memories for the Philadelphia Fighting Amish and the New Jersey Turnpikes (formerly the Cows)

Gee, thanks for such kind words!!!

May I throw out there how nice it has been to see the improv community outside of CSz in Philly grow over the past few years. When I started doing this in 2001, there wasn't much around, and now we have so much in city, including a kick-ass festival!

That's a testament to so much love and dedication for what we all do.

Hip, hip, hurray!

Oh, also, our very own Sean Roach is also a host of on the Sunny Side Up show. And he's gonna be dad soon!

I would like to add a non-comedic highlight. Well, it might turn out comedic, but we have now way of knowing until for a couple years... at least until object permanence kicks in.

CSz cast member Sean Curran and awesome wife Paige are officially PARENTS! HUUUURRAY! Word on the street is that both Mom and Baby Curran are doing great.

Hey N Crowd, I wonder if this means that we have to start a separate Baby Cagematch thread?

PS Baby Curran does in fact, have a name. I just felt I was stealing their thunder enough already, I didn't want to spoil the name.

One of my favorite ComedySportz moments was during the game where you start a new scene off of the last line of the last scene. (First line/Last line???) Anyway, there was a scene where there was a family argument. In the last line, the parent said to the child, "you are not my son!". For the new scene, Dave Jadico comes out gesturing at the sky. He starts yelling "You are not my sun! You are not my moon!"

Also, during the waiter game when the suggestion was "Jesus".
"Waiter, there's a Jesus in my soup!"
Susannah: "Come again?"

This weekend's shows were particularly fun, and while John Zak practically stole the show with his scoring updates (he went nuts on the iPad and Don's belly hair), the audience loved the action on the stage as well. This is a letter we got from a very happy fan - this is why we do what we do. Had to share.

Dear Cast & Staff,
I want to say sincere, heartfelt thanks to you for bringing such joy, esp this week to my family and friends. You, as an organization, never know what slings and arrows an audience member has suffered prior to Sat night. I want you to know, my week was a doozy and you were just what the doctor ordered!

This was our 3rd time there in 7 mos and again we were transported to another place of fun, laughter and just enough irreverence. We admire the genius of the Performers, the simplicity and resourcefulness of the Staff and the service put into Customer Service.

This time I brought 19 of my friends/family and they are all now devoted fans and want me to plan the next visit.

I want to stress how important it is to have a place to go with ALL AGES that can enjoy themselves and keep it to G-PG rated. Going as families and all enjoying is a unique and few and far between gift, indeed.

Our Party ranged in age from 9 to well, None-of-your business-2 and I looked at one point and ALL were smiling/laughing!

Don was such a good sport to talk Star Trek to my kid, Daniel, during the “sound-proof booth” segment.

We were also there for New Year’s and it was perfect!

Everybody had a great time last night. Thank you for a few hours of sheer fun and delight. You rock!

Thank you from the bottom of all 20 hearts!
