I've heard wreak pronounced as "wreck" and "reek." Which is correct? Or is it a regional variance?
I looked in my dictionary and there was only one pronunciation BUT I couldn't tell if the thing over the "e" was for a short e or a long e (eyes not good.)

So it's entirely possible that I'm the one who's wrong in this instance. And thus goes the whole history of warfare.

This thread is just to much!
And it's REEK Havoc. The horizontal line over the e indicates a long e sound. Wreak Havok. Beak Havoc. Sneak Peak Havoc.

I once used the word "ennui" (said on-WE) in pleasant conversation and the girl corrected me that it was EN-new. When i tried to explain the frenchy french-ness to her, she got mad indignant and insisted me straghit out of the conversation.

Also, endorse has no c in it and there is no such word as sunshinny.

Faced!
Furthermore, it's Michele, not Michelle.

And I hate it when people say "the reason why is...", or, even worse, "the reason why is because...".

It's so redundant redundant!

People, people. This thread is not about your unrequited love for each other it is about spelling pet peeves. If we could focus on that, that would be great.
I most often see "congrads" <shudder> in this forum. What other heinous spelling errors do I encounter here?

Their, there, they're - confusion. Get 'em straight.

Thank you for your support.
