Magnet Improv Summer Intensive

Immerse yourself in improvisation for three weeks in Magnet Theater’s Improv Summer Intensive from May 16th - June 3rd. Students will study improv 25 hours per week, completing 3 full levels of Magnet improv training in only three weeks. The intensive program concludes with a student graduation show, directed by Magnet founder Armando Diaz. Students who complete the intensive will be eligible to start at Level 4 in the Magnet program.
Week One May 16 - 20
Level One: Principles of Improv with Mark Grenier
Introduces and explores the fundamental principles of improvisation specific to the Magnet Theater. Exercises in agreement, commitment, spontaneity and listening will help build a valuable foundation for you as a confident performer and human being.
Week Two May 23 - May 27
Level Two: Intro to Long Form with Louis Kornfeld
Apply the principles of improv to the components of long form structures. Exercises in scene work, group games, opening games and The Harold will reinforce basic skills and prepare you for various long form structures.
Week Three May 30 - June 3
Level Three: Long Form Intensive with Armando Diaz
Master long form components to create dynamic forms such as The Harold, The Time Dash, The Mono Scene and The Montage.
Graduation Show Saturday, June 4 at 6:30pm
The Magnet Summer Intensive will conclude with a student graduation performance directed by Armando Diaz.
