The Comic Book Theater Festival, which will premiere at Brooklyn's Brick Theater in June 2011, is a unique opportunity for one of history’s newest art forms to meet one of its oldest. Through collaborations between visual and dramatic artists, the form and content of comics will collide with the content and form of theater to create strange new hybrids across both mediums.
The application form - and more information about the festival - can be found at
http://www.bricktheater.com/comics.
The deadline for applications is February 15, 2011.

For the moment, the primary purpose of this Facebook page is to serve as a forum for theater artists and comics artists to meet and discuss collaboration opportunities. All shows and performances that would like to be considered for the festival – whether they’re full-length productions or candidates for an evening of short-form work – will need to fill in the application form available at bricktheater.com/comics. In the meantime, we're hoping to make connections between theater artists seeking out comic artists for collaborations, and vice versa. In other words, you don’t need to have a fully baked production idea in order to consider participating. Here are some examples of what else we’re looking for:
• Comics artists who have a concept for a theatrical production but would like to potentially be matched up with theater artists with similar interests.
• Theater artists who have a plan for a production but would like to meet a comics artist in order to make it happen.
• Comics and theater artists who would love to meet each other to develop something entirely from scratch.
• Comics artists who would be happy to create art for a production conceived and devised by a theater company.
• Artists of all stripes who don’t necessarily know what to expect, but would like to keep receiving information in order to see if anything jumps out at them.
