Greetings! I will be offering a $25 one day improv workshop next week, Sunday, June 1st from 3:30pm to 6:30pm called Comfort Zone: Learning, Loving, and Leaving It! The focus of the workshop is getting comfortable improvising within your comfort zone so that you can breakout of it. Many times in improv classes, when we are pushed outside of where we're most comfortable, we lose sight of ourselves and the joy of improv we first felt. The goal of this class is to recapture that joy and use that as the foundation for going outside of ourselves. The class can also serve beginners and non-improvisers. Actors, feel free to bring in commercial copy and we can get loose with that material!

Description: Identify, explore, and break out of your comfort zone! In this workshop, you'll figure out how to excel improvising in your own skin. Make big, bold, and exciting choices from your home base so that you can use that foundation for making strong moves and choices outside of your comfort zone.This class works for absolute beginners as well as experienced improvisers looking to get more in touch with themselves as performers. Actors, if you got commercial copy, we can play around with that too. Let's get comfortable being uncomfortable!
Instructor: JAMES III performs at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre on the improv house team Astronomy Club and the sketch house team Moriarty. He has been seen on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers and Law & Order: SVU, Funny Or Die, Above Average, The Nerdist, web commercials for Google, Converse, and H&R Block, and written for CollegeHumor and Splitsider. This year, James is touring New York, Maine, Vermont, and Ohio with his solo show, Junior.
James has taught classes and workshops at Upright Citizens Brigade Diversity Program, The Peoples Improv Theater, Bennington College, Brooklyn College Hillel, 10,000 Hours Improv, Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Miller South School for the Arts, and many others.
