Comedy Sports - Interactive Improv...

#1
Hello. The request is in or around New York City.

Looking for interactive improv night out. I have a group of 20 creative people and would like to bring them to a show that engages the audience in the experience. Any suggestions?

Go to the UCB.

Comedy Sports? That's not as creative as the stuff at the UCB. It'll knock your socks off and make you walk funny the next day.

Not at the UCB, but wishin' I was.

Yea, this is a UCB-related board. Didn't you know that you can't talk nicey-nice about non UCB-related troupes? How DARE you!! My suggestion is to try both. Decide for yourself, but Meat99, if you EVER try to talk about shortform or a sports themed improv show on this board again, I swear to god, I will punch you in the vagina!

If you're talking interactive rather than straight on improv, something like whatever the hell that prom show is or Tony 'n' Tina's or something.

Most stage improv involves the audience in the creation of the thing. But, yeah - short form gives you more opportunities to be involved or interacted with.

If'n you want great short-form, go to Gotham City Improv (23rd St. between 6th & 7th, above Monster Sushi) at 7 pm on Saturday nights. But I've just turned this into a plug thread.

interactive theater is much different than improv theater... interactive brings audience members directly into the action and on to the stage and allows their choices to directly influence the plot/////
that being said, i don't know of any interactive theater in ny...

Since MJC has officially turned this into a plug thread, my show is actually a mix of both short and long form, and while I never actually have audience members onstage, it is entirely interactive. My whole show comes directly from the audience -- check out the website. 20 people when I need to fill seats? Come on down!

oof - if you're looking for Tony & Tina or shows like that......that's not my show. Would "20 creative people" really enjoy that prom show or Tony & Tina? Isn't it getting kind of sad at this point? Bring them to an improv show - so much more creative, no?

Well, "more creative" is a bit subjective. Is improv "more creative" than scripted shows? In my opinion, no.

Like you, my tastes lean toward fully improvised shows. But the person who started this thread asked for interactive improv, and I think it's important to distinguish between "improv" and what is generally referred to as "interactive entertainment."
